Kemppi Support from Joint Review to Shop-Floor Release

Service begins with the production constraint, not with a model number. A structured brief lets application teams connect equipment, procedure inputs, operator setup and verification evidence.

Three working disciplines

Separate selection, validation and handover

01

Application Review

Material grade, thickness range, joint geometry, weld position, available power and expected arc-on time are captured before equipment is shortlisted. MIG work also records wire diameter, transfer mode and feeder path; TIG work records polarity, starting behavior, shielding and current control.

02

Coupon Validation

Representative coupons are welded across a practical parameter window. The team documents setup conditions, visual outcome and the inspection route chosen by the customer. One accepted bead is not treated as proof that the process can absorb normal fit-up, surface and operator variation.

03

Production Handover

The released package identifies the power source, feeder, torch, leads, consumables and approved settings together. Operators receive setup checkpoints; maintenance teams receive access and inspection points; production leaders receive the evidence needed to monitor changes.

Four gates keep assumptions visible

1

Define

Submit a drawing, material condition, thickness window, production rate and acceptance route.

2

Configure

Match process mode, current range, duty-cycle basis, feeder, torch and shielding arrangement.

3

Test

Run coupons with realistic input power, cable length, consumables and joint preparation.

4

Release

Record the approved window, inspection evidence, setup notes and change-control limits.

Scope boundary

Application support does not replace a customer’s qualified welding procedure, code review, welder qualification or production quality plan. Published current and duty-cycle data depend on stated test conditions; long leads, unstable input power, ambient heat and restricted airflow can change usable output. Final acceptance remains tied to the applicable contract and inspection criteria.

A documented recommendation, with the limits stated

Every useful recommendation identifies the known inputs, trial conditions, selected equipment package and unresolved variables. If the production joint cannot be represented during a trial, the handover records that gap instead of converting it into an unsupported performance claim.

Prepare a joint-led service request

Attach the variables that can be checked: material certificate or grade, joint drawing, weld position, thickness range, current process, production target and observed defect. An application engineer can then define a reproducible coupon route and the evidence required before release.

  • Do not omit incoming power and cable length
  • State whether appearance, penetration or deposition rate governs
  • Identify code, WPS or customer acceptance constraints
